Continuous Assessment - Research Implementation

INSTRUCTIONS

Research Implementation Brief
For this part, the students need to use various methods, such as conducting observations, interviews and survey by questionnaire to collect primary data for their study. All evidence to support data collection is to be organised well.

Requirements
Students are to:
1. Select and justify suitable primary research methods relevant to the study.
2. Carry out the research and collect data.

During weekly tutorials, students must present their progress through PowerPoint. An individual tutorial feedback form will be filled by the lecturer and students to record the students’ learning progress.

Duration
Briefing: Week 7; Deadline: Week 11

Submission Format
Digital submission in e-portfolio blog, CONVERTED TO PDF.

Assignment Goals
1. Students to identify suitable and relevant methods in relation to the research problem
2. Students to apply theory into practice

RESEARCH IMPLEMENTATION

FEEDBACK

Week 8
The selected research methods are quite suitable for the research problem. Carry on by setting the interview questions and finding a few interview candidates, as well as narrowing down the field of study for the case studies. The research questions might need to be amended in order to be more specific.

Week 9
Proceed with the data collection for the interviews. As for the case study, the chosen field of study seems good so far. If possible, try to find logos that have been re-branded using both traditional and digital methods so that it's easier to compare later on.

Week 10
No feedback given as there was no class.

Week 11
The results of the interview and case studies are quite complete. For the interview, summarize the answers and identify any emerging themes.

Week 12
The table summary of the four case studies is good, but don't forget to justify the variables that were used.

Week 13
No feedback given as there was no class.

REFLECTION

Experience
To be honest, the whole data collection process was quite tough for me. I became quite demotivated halfway through because none of my interview candidates responded to me, and it was also really challenging to find information for the case studies. However, I just did the best that I could with what I had and hopefully everything turned out okay.

Observation
Even though the Internet is so filled with information, I noticed that I got better at filtering through the data in order to determine which ones were relevant and which ones were not.

Findings
Conducting research requires a lot of grit because you have to force yourself to keep going even though it seems like you're getting nowhere. You also have to be slightly thick-faced to chase after people for interviews.
